In its latest Perspectives in General Physiology series, the Journal of General Physiology (JGP) offers an in-depth look at several of these methods and the advantages of each as applied to membrane proteins, with special focus on ion channels.
Researchers at Lund University in Sweden have developed a new hydrogel based on the body's natural peptide defense.
Scientists here have discovered a previously unknown mechanism that cells use to fight off the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the cause of AIDS.

That's because her school district in Grand Junction, Colorado, experienced one of the nation's first delta-variant outbreaks last spring, and now school officials have loosened the rules meant to protect against covid-19.
The average age at onset of depression was nearly two years younger in low-income countries, the investigators found. Women were twice as likely as men to suffer depression, and the major contributing factor was loss of a partner because of death, divorce or separation.
