Synergy Pharmaceuticals Inc. today announced positive top-line results from a phase 2b dose-ranging study assessing plecanatide's safety and efficacy in 424 patients with irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C).

Researchers have dreamed of thwarting cancer by using proteins that halt cell growth and kill the tumor. In theory, the approach should work. In practice, however, scientists have not had an easy time of getting tumor suppressor proteins into cells where they can block growth effectively.
Results from a new global survey revealed that more than one-third (36%) of the 310 physicians surveyed do not think they have sufficient information required to make informed decisions on how to sequence treatments for patients with epidermal growth factor receptor mutation-positive (EGFR M+) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
