A new program that trains emergency medical service technicians (EMS) to read electrocardiograms so that they can evaluate patients with chest pain, and expedite treatment for the severe heart condition known as ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), a serious form of heart attack, has excellent results and should become the standard of care, according to two studies published in the current issue of the Canadian Journal of Cardiology.
Results of a UK study in this week's issue of THE LANCET highlight how people with diabetes controlled by diet alone have significant rates of complications and are less likely than patients on medication to be adequately monitored.
Spectrum Pharmaceuticals, a biotechnology company with fully integrated commercial and drug development operations with a primary focus in hematology and oncology, received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on November 18, 2011 to remove the pre-treatment biodistribution evaluation requirement using Indium-111 ZEVALIN imaging dose followed by a gamma scan before administering the ZEVALIN therapeutic dose.
Benvenue Medical, Inc., a developer of minimally invasive solutions for spine repair, announced today that it has treated the first patient in the United States with the Blazer Vertebral Augmentation System - a new device for the treatment of vertebral compression fractures (VCFs).
