A new study from the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI) and the University of Ottawa suggests that stem cells intentionally break their own DNA as a way of regulating tissue development. The study, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Science (PNAS), could dramatically change how researchers think about tissue development, stem cells and cancer.
Research shows that spending just 20 minutes in nature can promote health and well-being. Although the assumption may be that living in rural areas provides ample opportunities for recreation in nature, many rural, low-income mothers, who rely on outdoor activities to promote health and well-being for themselves and their families, face obstacles in accessing publicly available outdoor recreation resources.
Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. today announced that that its wholly owned subsidiary, Valeant Pharmaceuticals North America LLC, received notice that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the New Drug Application (NDA) for Jublia® (efinaconazole 10% topical solution), the first topical triazole approved for the treatment of onychomycosis of the toenails.
"The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday approved Johnson & Johnson's drug to treat a form of resistant tuberculosis that is uncommon in the U.S. but growing globally," the Wall Street Journal reports.
Florida Doctors Insurance Company (FLDIC) announced today it has successfully completed a merger and acquisition of Physicians Preferred Insurance Company (PPIC), making FLDIC the fourth largest admitted writer of physicians and surgeons medical professional liability insurance in Florida.
