The Vasculitis Patient-Powered Research Network, led by Peter A. Merkel, MD, MPH, Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania and George Casey, MBA, Vice President of the Vasculitis Foundation, has been approved to receive a three-year $1.4 million award by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute as part of the second phase of the National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network.
Approximately 84 million people in the United States suffer from some form of cardiovascular disease, and about 720,000 Americans have a heart attack every year, which works out to one every 44 seconds.
Four University of Oklahoma Norman campus researchers were awarded OCAST grants for health research projects on subjects that range from the development of bone grafts using adult stem cells to the identification of genes to block parasite development in mosquitoes to new drug development pipelines to improvements in limb movement.
Lidocaine and similar local anesthetics are effective for treating pain that emanates from damaged nerves, according to a systematic review of current evidence.
A little recognition for a job well done means a lot to children with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) - more so than it would for typically developing kids.
