Rutgers School of Public Health Professor Dr. Emily Barrett, PhD, and North Carolina State University Professor Dr. Heather Patisaul, PhD, have guest edited a special issue of the journal Hormones and Behavior.
After sustaining a concussion, when can an athlete safely return to play? That's the primary question for professional and amateur athletes alike. Now, University at Buffalo sports medicine researchers have been awarded $100,000 from NFL Charities to develop the most objective, scientific method of determining when an athlete who has had a concussion can safely return to play.
NDS Surgical Imaging today announced it has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for ZeroWire Duo, a Class II medical-grade wireless Full HD video solution for minimally-invasive surgery, GI and interventional suites.
The rare disorder, called myotubular myopathy, or MTM, affects only males. It causes fatal muscle wasting. Both dogs and boys with the disease typically succumb in early life due to breathing difficulties.
Following up on their previous work showing the rescue of dopamine neurons by chemicals that interact with the retinoid X receptor (RXR), researchers have now investigated the potential of these chemicals, known as RXR ligands, for the treatment of Parkinson's disease.
