Agendia, a commercial-stage molecular cancer diagnostics company, announces today that it has entered into a research collaboration with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of the world's leading cancer centers and whose research program is considered one of the most productive in the world aimed solely at cancer, and the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) with the aim of improving diagnosis and treatment options of colorectal cancer patients.
Sanofi-aventis reported today new one-year data from a Phase II study with teriflunomide, a novel oral disease modifier being investigated for the treatment of relapsing multiple sclerosis (RMS). Study results demonstrated an improvement in outcomes, with a consistent safety profile with the data from a previous Phase II monotherapy study, in patients treated with interferon beta (IFN-[BETA]) - a standard therapy in RMS - and receiving teriflunomide 7mg or 14mg, compared with patients treated with IFN-[BETA] and receiving oral placebo.
The efficacy of a single steroid injection for plantar fasciitis has been proven over placebo in one of the few controlled trials of the treatment.
American Physicians Capital, Inc. (APCapital) today announced net income of $9.7 million or $.94 per diluted common share for the fourth quarter of 2009. For the year ended December 31, 2009, APCapital generated net income of $40.6 million, or $3.67 per diluted common share.
A prescribed drug to treat high blood pressure has shown promise against conditions such as Parkinson's, Huntington's and forms of dementia in studies carried out in mice and zebrafish at the University of Cambridge.
