"We're seeing double the numbers of stroke in general," says Dr. Gabrielle deVeber, who will be chairing a session on Stroke in Children and Young Adults today at the 5th World Stroke Congress in Vancouver, B.C. "That's for both ischemic stroke (blood flow in the brain interrupted by a clot) and haemorrhagic (bleeding into the brain from a ruptured blood vessel).
When a wrist hurts, it could be carpal tunnel syndrome - or something else. Over time, many conditions can affect crucial parts of the hands, causing everything from pain to the loss of normal function.
The Associated Press: "Insurer UnitedHealth Group Inc. trumped first-quarter earnings expectations and raised its 2010 profit forecast Tuesday, but a meager stock reaction showed investors haven't forgotten about the recently concluded health care reform push. The Minnetonka, Minn., insurer said it trimmed the percentage of premium revenue it spent on medical bills for its commercial insurance to 79 percent, down from 81 percent in last year's first quarter."
Much like two children in the back seat of a car, it can be challenging to get two catalysts to cooperate for the greater good. Now Northwestern University chemists have gotten two catalysts to work together on the same task - something easily done by nature but a difficult thing to do in the laboratory. The findings, published by the journal Nature Chemistry, will allow medicinal chemists to invent new reactions and produce valuable bioactive compounds faster with less impact on the environment.
The current study used the guidelines of the FDA to validate the one-tube SARS-CoV-2 Swift Normalase Amplicon Panel Version 2.0 from Swift Biosciences.
