Oxygen Biotherapeutics, Inc. and privately held Sarasota Medical Products, Inc. (SMP) of Sarasota, FL, today announced they signed a Binding Letter of Intent to determine the feasibility of pursuing a joint research and development venture for treating chronic ischemic wounds. The venture will be based on combining Oxygen's Wundecyte™ PFC formulation with SMP's topical medical devices.
In an elaborate study, biologists of the University of Luxembourg have found out that small molecules named microRNAs are, against many hopes, not yet suitable for early diagnosis of skin cancer, as well as supposedly for other types of cancer, in blood samples. For the first time they analysed all microRNAs in the serum of healthy people and thus provided a first complete image of the human "miRNome" in blood samples, in reference to the better-known "genome".
To help employee members take a more proactive role in managing their own health programs, Avivia Health From Kaiser Permanente today announced the introduction of Your Health Center, a new portal based on Web 2.0 technology that provides user members with powerful digital health coaching and interactive tools. Avivia Health is the only national provider of Wellness and Condition Management Solutions based on 60 years of evidence-based practices by its parent organization, Kaiser Permanente.
Genetics play a strong part in the development of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), but the path from a gene to risk for the disorder has remained a black box to researchers.
