Autonomic Technologies, Inc. (ATI), the developer of a novel miniaturized implantable system for severe headaches, today announced positive preliminary findings from a study evaluating the safety and efficacy of the company's investigational neurostimulation system for the treatment of cluster headache.
Scientists have traditionally believed that combining more than two drugs to fight harmful bacteria would yield diminishing returns.
Teaching staff at Warwick Medical School have long been concerned that trainee doctors do not get enough sleep. Sleep in the classroom that is. Despite sleep patterns being a major contributor to a number of illnesses on average most undergraduate doctors in the UK receive only 5 minutes education on sleep medicine.
A study in the Feb. 1 issue of the journal SLEEP found gray matter concentration deficits in multiple brain areas of people with severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The study suggests that the memory impairment, cardiovascular disturbances, executive dysfunctions, and dysregulation of autonomic and respiratory control frequently observed in OSA patients may be related to morphological changes in brain structure.
Penn Medicine's Basser Center for BRCA announced $375,000 in new grant funding to support BRCA-focused research projects across the nation. The grants are aimed at advancing the care of patients living with BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations.
