MHAs and staff at the House of Assembly will have their skin checked for skin cancer by St. John's dermatologists at an event at Confederation Building, St. John's, on Tuesday April 20, 2010, from 9.30 am to 12.30pm, to raise awareness about the need for early detection of skin cancer.
Four prominent researchers from UCLA's Eli & Edythe Broad Center of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research have received Early Translational research awards totaling approximately $13 million from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) the state stem cell agency. The UCLA researchers received four of the 12 total awards; no other applicant institution received more than one award.
The Rudd government has promised funding to enable elderly patients to be moved out of high-care hospital wards.
"Previous analyses have underestimated the potential cost-saving effects of the House and Senate health reform bill, according to a new report co-authored by the Center for American Progress Action Fund and the Commonwealth Fund," Modern Healthcare reports.
Children from less affluent backgrounds are likely to have found COVID-19 lockdowns more challenging to their mental health because they experienced a lower connection with nature than their wealthier peers, a new study suggests.
