BioAlliance Pharma SA, a company dedicated to the supportive care and treatment of cancer patients, today announces the launch in the United States of Oravig® (known as Loramyc® in Europe) for the treatment of oropharyngeal candidiasis (OPC) in adults by its commercial partner, Strativa Pharmaceuticals, the proprietary products division of Par Pharmaceutical Companies, Inc..
By creating diseased liver cells from a small sample of human skin, scientists have for the first time shown that stem cells can be used to model a diverse range of inherited disorders. The University of Cambridge researchers' findings, which will hopefully lead to new treatments for those suffering from liver diseases, were published today in The Journal of Clinical Investigation.
Some people will find the new rules make insurance more expensive. That's in part because their health insurance was made cheap by turning away sick people. The new rules also won't allow for as much discrimination based on age or gender. The flip side of that, of course, is that many will suddenly find their health insurance is much cheaper, or they will find that, for the first time, they're not turned away when they try to buy health insurance (Ezra Klein, 6/1).
The Greenbelt Marriott has collected tips from its experts on throwing a great holiday party with healthier options and easy-to-do decorating that won't break the bank. The hotel is also helping guests stay in shape through the $700,000 expansion of its fitness center, due to be completed early next year.
