People with Parkinson's disease suffer social difficulties simply because of the way they talk, a McGill University researcher has discovered. Marc Pell, at McGill's School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, has learned that many people develop negative impressions about individuals with Parkinson's disease, based solely on how they communicate.
According to an international panel of cancer experts, women at high risk of developing breast cancer should be given preventative drugs. The experts write in the Lancet Oncology adding, drugs such as tamoxifen could reduce the chances of developing breast cancer. They suggest that this would be something similar to prescribing statins to patients at risk of heart disease. But tamoxifen has been linked with womb cancer, blood clots and stroke.
Two researchers from the University of Hertfordshire are attending Parliament to present their science to a range of politicians and a panel of expert judges as part of SET for Britain on Monday 17th March.
