CAS Medical Systems has announced that it has been awarded two United States Patents for technology used in its Fore-Sight Cerebral Oximeter, which is scheduled for commercial release in late 2006.
The first Leena Peltonen Prize for Excellence in Human Genetics was awarded to Dr. Cecilia Lindgren for her work on applying genetics and genomics to dissect the etiology of type 2 diabetes, obesity and fat distribution.
Molecules that may hold the key to new ways to fight cancer and other diseases have been found to play an important role in regulating circadian rhythm, says Liheng Shi, a researcher in Texas A&M's Department of Veterinary Integrative Biosciences.
"Most individuals with private insurance have little, if any, coverage for alternative medicine." People with "employer-based insurance often have some coverage," but it is typically limited to only certain treatments "and comes with more stipulations — like higher deductibles and preauthorization — than traditional care.
