Dr. Lesley Ann Saketkoo, an associate professor of clinical medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine, has been named Doctor of the Year by the Scleroderma Foundation. The award recognizes leadership and commitment to the community battling scleroderma, a disabling and life-limiting multi-organ autoimmune disease with progressive lung, heart, kidney, gastrointestinal tract and/or vascular involvement.
To the reasons that chemotherapy sometimes does not work, we can now add one more: bacteria. In a study published today in Science, researchers describe findings that certain bacteria can be found inside human pancreatic tumors.
A new antiviral drug candidate inhibits a broad range of coronaviruses, including the SARS and MERS coronaviruses, a multi-institutional team of investigators reports this week in Science Translational Medicine.
When the heart develops, some of its coronary blood vessels develop from cells lining the inner surface of the heart's ventricular chambers (endocardium). Novel
