With the cost of cancer to business estimated at £5.3billion Specialist Cancer Care provider Harley Street Concierge is launching a new guide for employers to mark World Cancer Day (4th February 2019). On average a cancer diagnosis in the family causes 27 days of direct absenteeism.
The Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University has been awarded a six-year $6 million grant from the National Cancer Institute to lead a statewide initiative that improves access to innovative clinical trials for a variety of cancers to underserved individuals across Georgia.
In the United States, individual state laws barring 18- to 20-year-olds from buying or possessing a handgun make little difference in the rate of homicides involving a gun by people in that age group, a new University of Washington study has found.
Educational leaders from Boston University School of Medicine believe teaching the subject of unhealthy substance use must be incorporated into internal medicine residency training and can be done within existing teaching venues. The findings, which currently appear on-line in BioMedCentral Medical Education, represent a national model for addressing this issue for internal medicine residents.
New Research from the Prevention Research Center of the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation investigated the effects of California's 2016 law that raised the minimum tobacco sales age to from 18 to 21 (T21) and found evidence that the new law has had positive public health effects on 7th, 9th, and 11th grade students from across California.
