Thousands of infants each year have exposure to opioids before they are born. Over half of these infants are born with withdrawal symptoms severe enough to require opioid replacement treatment in the nursery. Such treatment is associated with long hospital stays which interferes with maternal/infant bonding. Now, a team of researchers at Thomas Jefferson University has tested a semi-synthetic opioid they say has the potential to improve the treatment of these newborns, which could save hundreds of millions in healthcare costs annually if future tests continue to show benefit.
A free eye camp was organized by Bry-Air and Bhartiya Jagriti Manch, Moga. Patients from Moga and its surrounding villages, viz. Chande Wala, Charik, Bhadai, Chugawan, Rauli, Dala, etc. came to the camp for free eye check-up.
Researchers at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research and the department of neurosurgery at the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine, announced today that they have published a paper with research findings that could have implications for the treatment of many neurological conditions, including severe traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Cordis Corporation, a worldwide leader in the development and manufacture of interventional vascular technology, announced today that it has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for a new, smaller version of the CYPHER® Sirolimus-eluting Coronary Stent, the world's most studied drug-eluting stent that has been used to treat nearly 4 million people worldwide. The new 2.25 mm CYPHER® Stent is indicated for treatment of coronary blockages in small vessels, an often difficult-to-treat situation.
Researchers at Children's Hospital Boston report using tissue engineering to reconstruct defective tracheas (windpipes) in fetal lambs, first using cells from the amniotic fluid to grow sections of cartilage tube, and then implanting these living grafts into the lambs while still in the womb.
