A new study assesses hospitalized patients after recovering from COVID-19 by comparing the individuals before and after being treated with dexamethasone.
With a $3 million annual commitment to support promising blood disease research amid limited National Institutes of Health funding, the American Society of Hematology-the world's largest professional society concerned with the causes and treatment of blood disorders-today announced the formal establishment of the ASH Bridge Grant program after an extended four-year pilot study.
A new study has found that chlorophyll and its derivative chlorophyllin are effective in limiting the absorption of aflatoxin in humans. Aflatoxin is produced by a fungus that is a contaminant of grains including corn, peanuts and soybeans; it is known to cause liver cancer - and can work in concert with other health concerns, such as hepatitis.
Research has found that training stroke survivors to walk at a faster speed during recovery can help improve the brain function that enables people to walk and perform another task simultaneously, known as dual-task walking.
An analysis of nationally-representative data indicates that between 1988 and 2010 there has been a trend of declining average levels of total cholesterol, non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol for U.S. adults overall, according to a study in the October 17 issue of JAMA.
