A recent publication in the journal Food and Agricultural Immunology investigating the effects of aloe vera, ginger, saffron and ziziphora extracts as herbal remedies for gastric cancer suggests that the latter may be effective in the treatment of the fourth most common form of the disease.
Millions of working mothers were not able to express breast milk while at work until the Affordable Care Act of 2010 (ACA). The law requires employers to provide nursing breaks and a private, sanitary place to express breast milk for most mothers employed on an hourly basis. The ACA provisions for breastfeeding cover three-fifths of employed women living in families below 350 percent of the government poverty line (about $50,000 for a family of two).
Medtronic, Inc. today announced results from its Tailored Treatment of Permanent Atrial Fibrillation clinical trial, the first randomized study comparing ablation therapy with the Medtronic Phased RF Ablation System ablation system to traditional medical management in 210 patients with persistent or long-standing persistent atrial fibrillation.
Results of a study by investigators at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital provide strong evidence for why the drug imatinib (Gleevec), which has revolutionized the treatment of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), is often unable to prevent relapse of a particularly aggressive form of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
Men with lesions in the neck, trigone, or posterior wall of the bladder should be tested for basal prostate cancer as well as bladder cancer to ensure that they are not misdiagnosed, say researchers.
