"At present, it can take up to a year before a patient is diagnosed with SLE. This is because the symptoms are diffuse and are often mistaken for other diseases. However, with this blood-based test, it is possible to determine quickly whether someone has the disease or not", says Christer Wingren, associate professor in Immunotechnology at CREATE Health, Lund University.
Lisa Maas, executive director of Californians Allied for Patient Protection (CAPP), issued the following statement in response to a recent study published in the 2010 issue of Health Affairs which found that costs related to medical liability account for more than $55 billion a year or 2.4% of the total costs to the U.S. healthcare system. According to the study, approximately 80%, or $45 billion of these costs are the result of defensive medicine, procedures performed to avoid unnecessary litigation.
Patient Access Solutions, Inc., a provider of digital pen and paperwork technologies that provide the healthcare industry a graceful migration to Electronic Medical Records, today announced that Paradigm Rehab and Nursing has signed a contract to use the PASHealth D-PAS, digital pen and paper, Mobipen Care System to improve the standard of the service within their homecare industry.
When Hurricane Harvey struck Texas in August, industrial facilities in the state shut down, then reopened a few days later. In doing so, they produced nearly 2,000 tons of "excess emissions" - air pollutants in addition to what was allowed as part of their normal operation.
