Over the past 20 years, there has been speculation about a connection between immunizations and an increase in autism. However, a study by Mayo Clinic researchers published in the January issue of Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine suggests the increase may be due to improved awareness, changes in diagnostic criteria and availability of services, not environmental factors or immunizations.
JLR Medical Group, one of Florida's largest anesthesia practices, today announced it will become a founding partner in U.S. Anesthesia Partners ("USAP"), an anesthesia-focused physician services organization.
Certain prostate cancer cell lines are unable to repair DNA damage caused by "free radicals," according to scientists at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and National Institutes of Health (NIH). This type of damage has been implicated before in the development of prostate cancer, but the new research provides the first solid evidence that the normal repair process is altered in prostate cancer cells, possibly leading to a cascade of events that culminate in further DNA damage and cellular dysfunction.
UMG Inc., a privately held company headquartered in Harrison, New York, has entered into an Agreement in principle to acquire the Del Medical Imaging US business from Del Global Technologies Corp. Both parties anticipate the transaction will be completed prior to December 1, 2009.
