An international team led by Emory scientists has gained insight into the pathological mechanisms behind two devastating neurodegenerative diseases.
Xybion Corporation announced today that through the creation of a wholly owned Quebec Corporation, Services Informatiques Xybion, it has completed the acquisition of all operating assets of Quebec City based Amadeus Solutions, a leader in the development of enterprise governance, risk, compliance and quality management software solutions, from DECIMAL, a corporate performance management organization headquartered in Montreal.
Researchers at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., and the Mossakowski Medical Research Centre in Warsaw, Poland, have found that nonself-donated cells (allografts) better survive implantation into the brains of immunocompetent research mice when the grafts are injected into the striatum (STR) of the brain rather than injected into the forceps minor (FM) region.
Life Technologies Corporation today announced results for its first quarter ending March 31, 2010. Non-GAAP revenue for the first quarter was $887 million, an increase of 13 percent over the $785 million reported for the first quarter of 2009. Excluding the impact of currency and completed acquisitions and divestitures, organic revenue for the quarter grew 10 percent over the same period in the previous year.
Researchers have discovered a new mechanism by which the human papilloma virus (HPV) causes head and neck cancer, and they have designed a drug to block that mechanism. Though further research is needed, the new agent might offer a safer treatment for these tumors when combined with a tapered dose of standard chemotherapy.
