Researchers in the Radiation Oncology Department at UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center have received a $14 million grant to develop countermeasures that will help treat damage caused by radiological or nuclear threats such as a dirty bomb attack.
Scientists have shown that airport screening for disease will often miss half or more of infected travellers, but can be improved by customizing to pathogens.
Despite most cancers seeing a drop in deaths, prostate cancer deaths are on the rise in the U.S. New reporting from the American Cancer Society shows that in 2020, the number of men who will die from prostate cancer will hit a record high over the last two decades, with an increase of 5 percent since just last year.
The Canadian Gene Cure Foundation, in partnership with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research through its Institute of Genetics, is pleased to announce the awarding of a $90,000 Champions of Genetics: Building the Next Generation Grant to Dr. Faraz Farooq, a Scientist at the Children Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute.
