A new study out of the University of Cincinnati finds that both school bullies and their victims are likely to abuse alcohol after a bullying episode. Keith King, a University of Cincinnati professor of health promotion, along with Rebecca Vidourek, a UC assistant professor of health promotion, will present early findings of a new study on Oct. 29, at the 140th Annual Meeting of the American Public Health Association in San Francisco.
To decide whether a new medical technology is cost effective, researchers often "compare a new technology's incremental cost-effectiveness ratio or ICER to a threshold that is some multiple of a country or income group's GDP per capita, per WHO convention," Amanda Glassman, director of global health policy and a senior fellow at the Center for Global Development (CGD), writes in the CGD's "Global Health Policy" blog
Diffusion Pharmaceuticals LLC, a clinical-stage drug-development company, today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted it patent no. 7,759,506 entitled "Bipolar Trans Carotenoid Salts and Their Uses." This patent includes drug formulation and use claims relating to Diffusion's entire family of first-in-class new chemical entities. Diffusion Pharmaceuticals is commercializing this family of first-in-class drug candidates to treat serious or life-threatening medical conditions characterized by hypoxia or oxygen deprivation at the cellular level.
