Lung Cancer Alliance acknowledges the on-going work by the Office of Disease Prevention at the National Institutes of Health on lung cancer screening research and the need for people who may be at risk for lung cancer to be well informed.
Epizyme, Inc., a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company creating innovative personalized therapeutics for patients with genetically defined cancers, announced today that it has received a Notice of Issuance from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its patent application entitled "ARYL-OR HETEROARYL-SUBSTITUTED BENZENE COMPOUNDS", U.S. Patent No.: 8,410,088.
To better understand how low blood oxygen level, or hypoxemia, and lung compliance varies in COVIDARDS and how they relate to disease outcomes, researchers developed a dataset of using more than 11,000 COVID-19 patients admitted to the hospital. A research paper published on the medRxiv* preprint server reports their results.
Nearly 20% of hospitalizations by Medicare beneficiaries are followed by readmission within 30 days, costing billions of dollars in healthcare costs. Existing approaches to identify patients at risk for hospitalization are limited to episodic claims data. These claims-based approaches often fail to detect avoidable and costly admissions in the blind spot between doctor visits.
In her testimony before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Tuesday about President Barack Obama's FY12 budget request, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton also defended the State Department's FY11 budget request, Bloomberg reports. Clinton said the proposed budget cuts for FY11 would be "devastating" to U.S. national security, and U.S. programs in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq would see "sharp reductions" if the proposed cuts are passed.
