The first trial to study patients with acute coronary syndrome who do not undergo coronary stenting or bypass surgery found no significant difference between two anti-clotting drugs - prasugrel and clopidogrel - in preventing the first occurrence of death, heart attack or stroke, according to Duke University Medical Center cardiologists.
During its annual industry conference Injury Sciences LLC announced the release of WrExpert Pro™, the next and most advanced generation of software for the scientific analysis of vehicle damages and related auto injury claims. WrExpert Pro™ leverages data integration with client systems and leading third party technology providers and, with little or no manual data entry, delivers a biomechanical analysis that includes assessments of vehicle impact forces and occupant injury potential.
Palatin Technologies, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company developing targeted, receptor-specific peptide therapeutics for the treatment of diseases with significant unmet medical needs and commercial potential, today announced that it has started its bremelanotide pivotal registration program.
A mediation program spearheaded by Gov. John Kitzhaber went into effect Tuesday, giving patients and their families an option besides suing when medical errors happen. But questions remain over how the mediation program will develop, including whether hospitals, doctors and other providers will take advantage of the program, or candidly discuss errors if they do. The result of a compromise between trial lawyers and the Oregon Medical Association approved in SB 483 last year, the Early Discussion and Resolution program is intended to cut down on lawsuits and boost the reporting of medical errors to help improve health care practices (Budnick, 7/1).
