Physical activity is an important health behaviour for many diseases but its role in cancer control has been understudied and underappreciated. This book, edited by Kerry S. Courneya and Christine M. Friedenreich, explores in depth the relation between physical activity and cancer control, including primary prevention, coping with treatments, recovery after treatments, long-term survivorship, secondary prevention, and survival.
Immunomedics, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company primarily focused on the development of monoclonal antibody-based products for the targeted treatment of cancer, autoimmune and other serious diseases, today reported that combination treatment with milatuzumab, the first humanized anti-CD74 antibody in clinical testing, and veltuzumab, a second-generation humanized anti-CD20 antibody, resulted in therapeutic responses in heavily pretreated and rituximab-refractory non-Hodgkin's lymphoma patients.
In what may provide the most compelling evidence to date, researchers at Columbia University Medical Center have illuminated how a genetic variant may lead to schizophrenia by causing a disruption in communication between the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex regions of the brain, areas believed to be responsible for carrying out working memory.
Africare President Darius Mans announced today new investments from ExxonMobil to extend their partnership in its fight against malaria. ExxonMobil, which has long been a supporter of Africare, will fund three key malaria prevention and intervention programs in Africa.
