University of Cincinnati researchers are examining racial and gender disparities in dialysis patients as well as the impact of poor functional status and pre-dialysis hospitalizations on elderly dialysis patients.
"Hundreds of thousands of women in conflict zones around the world have been or are now becoming victims of rape and sexual torture," reflects Michel Martin, host of NPR's "Tell Me More," as she interviewed Margot Wallstrom, U.N. special representative on sexual violence in conflict, in a show examining the U.N.'s "ramped up" campaign to end systemic sexual violence in war.
Findings from postmortem studies of the brains of Huntington's Disease (HD) patients suggest that transcriptional dysregulation may be an early step in the pathogenesis of HD before symptoms appear. Other studies report transcriptional alterations in the brains of some mouse models of HD.
