Robotic animals can help to improve the quality of life for people with dementia, according to new research. A study has found that interacting with a therapeutic robot companion made people with mid- to late-stage dementia less anxious and also had a positive influence on their quality of life.
Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals Inc. announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Gadavist Injection, a macrocyclic gadolinium-based contrast agent, for intravenous use in diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging in adults and children to detect and visualize areas with disrupted blood brain barrier and/or abnormal vascularity of the central nervous system.
Lannett Company, Inc. today announced that it has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of its Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) for Sumatriptan Nasal Spray USP, 5 mg/spray and 20 mg/spray, the therapeutic equivalent to the reference listed drug Imitrex Nasal Spray, of GlaxoSmithKline.
Individuals with an inherited form of skin cancer often have a poor prognosis. The type of immunotherapy that was awarded this year's Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine is, however, particularly effective in this patient group, research from Karolinska Institutet in Sweden shows. The study is published in the Journal of Medical Genetics.
