The reason Children's Medical Research Institute (CMRI) exists is to find ways to treat or prevent childhood disease. Our research programs are focussed on the areas of cancer cell growth, nerve cell signalling, embryology and gene therapy. These four programs have a shared aim of translating novel findings into new treatments for the benefit of families everywhere.
New research published in the April 2011 issue of the Journal of Vascular Surgery®, the official publication of the Society for Vascular Surgery®, directly measured the radiation doses for patients and operators during complex endovascular procedures.
Sharply increased demand for artemether-lumefantrine, an artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) used to treat malaria, is likely to result in a shortage from now until at least March 2005. ACTs are currently the most effective medicines available to treat falciparum malaria - the deadliest form of the disease.
Federal officials offering emergency funding to hospitals, clinics and doctors' practices have included this stipulation: They cannot foist surprise medical bills on COVID-19 patients.
Researchers from Harvard Medical School, McLean Hospital at Belmont, MA have found that parents using marijuana could be raising the risk of their children picking up addictions such as marijuana, tobacco, alcohol and even opiods misuse. Their study titled, "Associations of Parental Marijuana Use With Offspring Marijuana, Tobacco, and Alcohol Use and Opioid Misuse," was published in the latest issue of the journal JAMA Network last week.
