Georgetown University Medical Center researchers say their observations suggest that managing morphine withdrawal could promote a healthier mental state in people.
One of the main health targets proposed by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) is to reduce by one-third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases such as cancer, stroke and dementia. The goals for 2016-2030 define premature mortality as deaths occurring among people aged 69 years old or younger.
"A review of malaria elimination conducted by researchers at the Johns Hopkins Malaria Research Institute and other institutions and published in Science suggests stopping malaria transmission completely has long-lasting benefits for many countries and that once eliminated, the disease is unlikely to reemerge over time," a Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health press release reports.
The availability of sugar-sweetened or diet soda in schools does not appear to be related to students' overall consumption, except for African-American students, who drink more soda when it's available at school, finds a study in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
