A public safety campaign called, "White Coat Deception," by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons is moving against doctors who provide care beyond their specialties.
Orthostatic hypotension (OH), a drop in blood pressure after standing, is common among older adults and has been reported to be an important predictor of falls and fainting, as well as cardiovascular disease.
In the early stages of human embryogenesis, a transcription factor called Twist1 plays a key regulatory role in how the embryo assumes form and function. Much later in life, however, researchers at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, say Twist1 can re-emerge, taking a darker and more deadly turn.
Dense networks of blood vessels thought to spur cancer's growth could actually hinder rather than promote tumor progression, according to a new study at the University of California, San Diego.
Simply comparing the total number of deaths across countries may provide a misleading representation of the underlying level of transmission of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, because of large differences in reported COVID-19 death rates in elderly populations in different countries.
