Researchers at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine have identified an enzyme that controls the spread of breast cancer. The findings, reported in the current issue of PNAS, offer hope for the leading cause of breast cancer mortality worldwide.
Prader-Willi syndrome is a rare genetic disorder which affects one child in 25,000. Children born with this syndrome have a range of complex neurological and developmental problems which continue into adult life. These can manifest as cognitive and behavioral difficulties, weight gain, problems in controlling their temper and attendant difficulties in socialization.
Researchers found antibody levels in mRNA vaccinated individuals varied with age, gender, and previous coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infection.
Dr. Hossein Tavana, an associate professor of biomedical engineering at The University of Akron, has received a grant of $1.13 million from the prestigious National Cancer Institute to further develop 3D tumor models of triple-negative breast cancer - which may improve drug testing and lead to the discovery of new, more effective anticancer drugs.
