But according to a new report, most intervention studies like these have a critical flaw: They do not adequately account for the placebo effect.
"Behaviors such as poor diet choices, physical inactivity, excess alcohol consumption and unhealthy body weight could account for more than 20 percent of cancer cases, and could, therefore, be prevented with lifestyle modifications," Kohler said, adding that when tobacco exposure is considered, these modifiable issues are believed to be factors in two-thirds of U.S. cancer deaths.
New public opinion surveys released today by the nonprofit Alliance for Aging Research show that public awareness about heart valve disease (HVD) in the U.S. is alarmingly low.
Patients with the heart rhythm disorder atrial fibrillation (AFib) who received first-line catheter ablation treatment had a longer arrhythmia-free interval than patients receiving antiarrhythmic drugs, the standard first-line treatment.
