Cancer Research UK funded scientists have found seven new sites in the human genome that are linked to men's risk of developing prostate cancer. Their findings are published in Nature Genetics today.
A common drug that is used to treat high blood pressure in the general population has been found to significantly reduce a dangerous and frequently fatal cardiac problem in patients with Marfan syndrome.
In a new study published today in JAMA Pediatrics (formerly Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine), Kaiser Permanente researchers found that 49 percent of children ages 2-24 months did not receive all recommended vaccinations or did not get vaccinated according to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices schedule.
In the study, sudden changes in metabolic health parameters were associated with a raised risk of heart attacks, strokes and even early deaths.
