Two years after the Food and Drug Administration Amendments Act of 2007 gave FDA new powers to require Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies for higher risk drugs and biologics, a new report concludes that an optimal future for REMS is possible if the agency adopts a systems approach when designing REMS programs and takes advantage of new technologies - from electronic medical records to genetic testing - that are changing the way medicine is practiced.
Any attempt by the Government to address the pensions crisis leading senior doctors to reduce their hours must include proper tax reform if it is to avert this "grave threat" to staff and patients, the BMA says.
Nose swab samples collected by parents are as good as those collected by nurses at detecting respiratory infections in children, according to a study by researchers at the University of Bristol published in the journal Microbiology Spectrum today [10 November].
