New, shorter therapies to treat tuberculosis (TB), which kills millions worldwide each year, may make TB control efforts substantially more effective by simplifying treatment, improving patient outcomes and reducing transmission of new infections.
In an effort to educate Indianapolis area residents about the importance of annual seasonal influenza vaccination, the American Lung Association in Indiana is kicking off the 2009-2010 influenza season by holding a flu panel discussion at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School on September 24 at 6:30 p.m. to educate the community about the dangers of influenza.
The medical community has taken additional steps to help alleviate ongoing challenges facing physicians and patients due to the worldwide isotope shortage. SNM cautions that while this is good news, a long-term solution for the U.S. is needed urgently.
Osiris Therapeutics, Inc. today announced that it is resuming enrollment in its clinical trial evaluating Prochymal for patients with treatment-resistant Crohn's disease. The findings of an interim analysis showed that for the primary endpoint of disease remission, Prochymal is approaching statistical significance in the intent to treat (ITT) population, and has reached significance in the per protocol population.
