A new study published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), reveals a causal link between dopamine and the reward responses in humans when listening to music.
Today, Boehringer Ingelheim has announced the submission of a Marketing Authorisation Application to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) for approval of afatinib, the first irreversible ErbB Family Blocker, as a treatment for patients with EGFR (ErbB1) mutation positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Afatinib has demonstrated unprecedented efficacy versus chemotherapy in the Phase III LUX-Lung 3 registration trial, which provides pivotal support for this submission.
In a study that suggests a new frontier in immunology, scientists at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Osteopathic Medicine (UMDNJ-SOM) report on evidence that shows human blood contains thousands of autoantibodies that bind specifically to antigens from organs and tissues all over the body and act to clear cellular debris that results from injury and disease.
"The propeller cut through the skin, muscle, tendons and bone and had removed portions of the bone," he recalled. "Basically, she had severed her arm, and it was attached only by some skin, tendon, nerve and artery."
Just because your mother has turned 85, you shouldn't assume you'll have to take over her financial matters. She may be just as good or better than you at making quick, sound, money-making decisions, according to researchers at Duke University.
