Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. announced today that the parties to the patent litigation regarding Barr's U.S. generic version of Schering's Temodar® have entered into an agreement pending resolution of Schering's appeal to the Federal Circuit of the U.S. District Court's decision holding the ‘291 Patent unenforceable.
After over a century of development, cancer immunotherapy (CIT) has risen to become a promising approach for treating cancer. Unlike conventional methods that try to kill cancer cells directly, CIT involves modifying or stimulating the immune system's natural ability to fight the disease. So far, various CIT treatments have shown remarkable results in terms of survival rates, and many new and combination strategies are currently under study.
A team of cardiac experts led by Dr. N S Devananda, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, Wockhardt Hospitals, Bangalore (Now a Network Hospital of Fortis) has performed a major open heart surgery on a 2-year-old baby from Nigeria. Baby Brendan was suffering from congenital heart defect called - Tetralogy of Fallot or complex blue baby syndrome.
Emergency angioplasty (balloondilation of the coronary vessel) is the preferred treatment for patients with an acute heart attack. Because of its limited availability worldwide, the majority of patients who are admitted to the hospital with a heart-attack are treated with clot-lysing drugs (thrombolysis).
