The specialized human ability to perceive the sound quality known as 'pitch' can no longer be listed as unique to humans. Researchers at Johns Hopkins report new behavioral evidence that marmosets, ancient monkeys, appear to use auditory cues similar to humans to distinguish between low and high notes.
GenomeDx Biosciences today announced that the robust Decipher genomic analysis platform, successfully classified various subtypes of bladder cancer based on the genomic expression of certain biomarkers, including one type associated with resistance to cisplatin-based chemotherapy. Importantly, this unique genomic signature has potential as a tool to predict tumor responsiveness to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancers (MIBC).
Researchers have found that the variants of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that were initially identified in South Africa (B.1.351) and Brazil (P.1) appear to be spreading more quickly in some areas of France than the previously dominant UK variant B.1.1.7.
