Treatments that prevent recurrence of types of stroke and dementia caused by damage to small blood vessels in the brain have moved a step closer, following a small study.
Although the federal government is spending more than $22 billion to encourage hospitals and doctors to adopt electronic health records, it has failed to put safeguards in place to prevent the technology from being used for inflating costs and overbilling, according to a new report by a federal oversight agency (Abelson and Creswell, 1/8).
Ashoka and Boehringer Ingelheim announced today that they will launch a three-year global initiative to improve health in communities around the world. The "Making More Health" initiative will promote healthy individuals, families and communities by identifying and supporting the most promising solutions to challenging health problems.
Caliber Point Business Solutions Ltd., a leading BPO service provider and a subsidiary of Hexaware Technologies, today announced their partnership with MedLink, a healthcare IT Company, which provides a complete Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and practice management platform named TotalOffice. This partnership provides a 'One Stop' solution for physician practices who otherwise have to work with multiple vendors across platforms to integrate their clinical data and billing information systems.
A report by officials in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia says the Pentagon was too slow in informing local officials about the recent anthrax scare in Defence Department mail facilities and gave antibiotics to workers without coordinating with public health officials. It says the Homeland Security Department (DoD) "needs to be involved earlier in such incidents".
