DePuy Synthes, part of the Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Companies, today introduced the ACTIS Total Hip System in the US at the 2018 American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA. In the largest study to examine the impact of the recession on child abuse, researchers at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's (CHOP) PolicyLab detected a significant increase in children admitted to the nation's largest children's hospitals due to serious physical abuse over the last decade.
State appeals courts in New Jersey and Texas on Thursday reversed two jury verdicts and a judgment on payment of legal fees in lawsuits related to the COX-2 inhibitor Vioxx that would have required Merck to pay about $37 million, Bloomberg/Washington Post reports (Van Voris/Voreacos, Bloomberg/Washington Post, 5/30).
