Lerner Medical Devices, Inc. announced today that Levia®, a novel, in-home, ultraviolet B (UVB) phototherapy device, has received 510 (k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treatment of psoriasis and certain other skin conditions such as vitiligo.
In the first prospective study of its kind, Seaver Autism Center researchers at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai provide new evidence of the severity of intellectual, motor, and speech impairments in a subtype of autism called Phelan-McDermid Syndrome.
The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, an independent board established by the health law, will meet this week to set priorities for "comparative effectiveness research." In other news related to the health law, the News Hour reports on how the overahul has impacted pediatric cancer patients and the New York Times reports on the law's provisions related to screening kids for obesity and providing them counseling.
