A team of researchers led by the University of Adelaide and University of Stuttgart has used 3D micro-printing to develop the world's smallest, flexible scope for looking inside blood vessels.
Facet Solutions, Inc. today announced that it has finished compiling two year data from its lumbar stenosis pilot study in the US. At two years, patients in the ACADIA™ study experienced significant and sustained improvement in Oswestry Disability Index, VAS back pain and VAS leg pain. There were no re-operations in any of the patients, and all patients met the definition of success for ODI improvement.
Scientists at the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute have found evidence that may disrupt conventional understanding about how electrical activity travels in the heart -; a discovery that potentially can lead to new insight into medical problems such as heart arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death.
At this year's analytica trade fair in Munich, three Fraunhofer Institutes will be presenting a project from pre-competitive research. Biologists, computer scientists and laser experts have developed a process to analyze and select cells and then examine their protein production. In pharmaceutical research, this will make it possible to develop active ingredients much faster than before.
Despite a veto threat from the White House, Senate Democrats plan to move forward in the next two weeks with a bill (S 1951) that would reduce payments to Medicare Advantage plans to offset delaying a 10.6% cut to Medicare physicians' payments, CQ Today reports.
