In two closely related studies, two teams of Scripps Research Institute scientists have discovered the underlying mechanisms that activate a type of immune cell in the skin and other organs. The findings may lead to the development of new therapies to treat inflammation, wounds, asthma, and malignant tumors.
A new study provides insights on the mechanisms behind the development of kidney damage due to obesity. The findings, which appear in an upcoming issue of the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, point to a potential target for protecting the kidney health of individuals with obesity.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) diagnosis and treatment has been a challenge and this is mainly due to the varying degrees of degeneration and cognitive damage seen in different patients. The researchers from the University of California San Diego School of Medicine for the first time used the transcriptome to assess the proteins made from the genes in patients with AD, that could help in diagnosis.
Zymo Research announced today that it is offering five new sample collection devices. Each type of collection tube contains Zymo Research's DNA/RNA Shield™ storage reagent, which preserves the genetic integrity and expression profiles of various samples such as cells, tissues, blood, plasma, serum, saliva, urine, and feces, at ambient temperatures for extended periods.
