Loyola University Chicago's Public Health Program has received a five-year accreditation from the Council on Education for Public Health.
In this Scientific American opinion piece, author and former staff writer at Scientific American John Horgan examines "a bitter debate" among scientists over the publication of controversial H5N1 research, writing, "Research involving the bird-flu virus H5N1 poses an especially knotty dilemma, in which scientists' commitment to openness - and to reducing humanity's vulnerability to potential health threats - collides with broader security concerns."
Schools looking to make children more active simply need to provide more balls, skipping ropes, racquets and hoola hoops, a new study has shown.
These "policy riders" restrict spending on certain social and regulatory initiatives, including implementation of the health law and funding for Planned Parenthood. These contentious issues are becoming as difficult to resolve as reaching agreement on a final figure for spending cuts.
The current Medicare reimbursement policy for nurse practitioners (NPs) allows NPs to directly bill Medicare for services that they perform, but they are reimbursed at only 85% of the physician rate.
