Researchers from the University of Florida and 14 additional medical centers reported results today in the online version of The Lancet Neurology journal indicating that deep brain stimulation - also known as DBS - is effective at improving motor symptoms and quality of life in patients with advanced Parkinson's disease.
In the late 1990s, Earnest Tate was named the first black police chief of Selma, Alabama. Nearly 20 years later, Tate is retired and works on his family farm in the city where he made history.
Understanding the link between diabetes and early dementia – as well as how diabetes relates to other causes of memory loss – is the focus of a new study at Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) and approximately 40 other medical institutions nationwide.
Biochemists at Kiel University, along with international scientists, have identified an important messenger in the immune system. The messenger interleukin-27 plays an important role when the human body blocks inflammations.
