In breakthrough research, a team of scientists from University of Edinburgh's Roslin Institute, have genetically modified chicken to lay eggs that contain medications for arthritis and some cancers.
Female athletes are two to eight more times likely to injure their ACL than males, however utilizing one graft repair treatment method in females may be more beneficial than another, according to researchers presenting their work today at the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine's (AOSSM) Annual Meeting in San Diego.
An innovative vaccine therapy developed at Roswell Park Cancer Institute is being tested in a multisite clinical trial involving 50 patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma brain tumors. The phase II study, now accruing patients at both Roswell Park and the Cleveland Clinic, will assess the effectiveness of the SurVaxM vaccine in combination with standard chemotherapy as treatment for this often-fatal cancer.
A major research trial to test whether extra support for smokers calling an NHS quitline - on top of what is already offered by the service - has found the additional help does not improve success rates for quitting the habit.
Nathan Bryan, PH.D., one of the nation's leading experts on critically important role of nitric oxide in health and disease prevention, told attendees of the Pacific Regenerative Medicine 2017 Conference this morning that, "Stem cells are the future of medicine and are required for our body to heal itself; however, their success depends on the body producing enough nitric oxide to support their healing properties.
