The combination of traditional chemotherapy agents with targeted therapies called monoclonal antibodies showed no safety concerns and improved survival in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer according to a study presented at the 2008 Chicago Multidisciplinary Symposium in Thoracic Oncology, sponsored by ASTRO, ASCO, IASLC and the University of Chicago.
By solving the three-dimensional structure of a protein involved in repairing DNA errors, a group of McMaster University researchers have revealed new avenues to develop assessment tools and alternative treatments for people living with hereditary colorectal cancers.
Speaking at a briefing on Tuesday at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C., Deputy Global AIDS Coordinator Julia Martin said "[t]he decision about whether to reauthorize [PEPFAR] 'rests with Congress. ... Whether we move in that direction is yet to be fully determined but PEPFAR will continue at the will of Congress,'" CQ HealthBeat reports.
