Clark McCarthy Healthcare Partners II, a joint venture of Clark Construction Group and McCarthy Building Companies Inc., was recently awarded a $648 million contract by The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District to build the Fort Bliss Replacement Hospital in El Paso.
During estimation processes we unconsciously make use of recent experiences. Scientists from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universit-t (LMU) in Munich and the Bernstein Center Munich asked test subjects to estimate distances in a virtual reality environment.
Pancreatic cancer-known as the most fatal cancer with no known effective treatment-requires a radical new therapy. A promising approach may come in the form of tiny gold nanoparticles-loaded with a therapeutic agent to kill cancer-in a novel procedure called "nanoembolization," said researchers at the Society of Interventional Radiology's 35th Annual Scientific Meeting in Tampa, Fla.
In this post on the Center for Global Development's (CGD) "Global Health Policy" blog, Research Fellow Victoria Fan, Director of Global Health Policy Amanda Glassman, and Research Assistant Rachel Silverman of the Center for Global Development (CGD) examine what they call the "serious limitations" of a study published recently in the American Journal of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene that looked at the impact of HIV/AIDS funding on Rwanda's health system.
Results presented today of a Phase III pivotal study for the investigational compound perampanel for partial-onset seizures showed that perampanel, 8 mg and 12 mg, produced statistically significant reductions in median seizure frequency compared to placebo among patients having partial-onset seizures while receiving treatment with one to three other epilepsy drugs.
